    Chiemsee
En route : Lake Chiemsee & Palace Herrenchiemsee

Join us for a cruise on beautiful Lake Chiemsee to reach the stunning Palace Herrenchiemsee. Enjoy the stunning views and time to explore, beforewe continue our journey.

    Linderhof Castle
Full Day: Linderhof Castle & Oberammergau

The next included excursion on our holiday will take us to Linderhof Castle in southwest Bavaria, which was also created by King Ludwig II. It’s one of the country’s most majestic locations, as it was clearly inspired by the beautiful Palace of Versailles in France.

We will tour the castle and wonder at its opulent interiors, complete with perfectly preserved period furniture. The gardens are also a must-see attraction, as the palace is surrounded by formal gardens which seamlessly integrate with the alpine landscape of this area.

Following our thrilling tour of Lindhof Castle, we’ll continue on to Oberammergau. This town is famous for its intricate woodcarvings, and we’ll have time to wander through the streets to admire the decorated houses. Many buildings in the town feature intricate exterior decorations of popular scenes.

    Neuschwanstein Castle
Full Day: Neuschwanstein Castle & Fussen

The first castle we’ll experience while on holiday in Imst will be the Neuschwanstein Castle. This Romanesque Revival palace in Hohenschwangau in Bavaria, Germany, was created for Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1892.

We’ll spend an entire day touring the castle, which has been seen in many films – it was even the basis for the famous Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland. As the castle was created as a retreat for King Ludwig, it was designed for his personal taste, rather than to represent the royal family.

The castle was actually dedicated to the composer Richard Wagner, and we’ll be able to spot his inspiration throughout the castle’s architecture. Inside, many of the rooms have been furnished with period furniture, and the entire castle has been brilliantly well-preserved.

After touring the castle, we’ll head to the town of Fussen, in which Neuschwanstein Castle sits. As though preserved in history, Fussen is quaintly traditional and has many attractions, some of which we’ll be able to explore while there.

These include St. Mang Basilica with its ancient fresco, and High Castle.

    Schonbrunn Palace
    Half Day: Schonbrunn Palace

This will be our first included excursion in Vienna, and will provide us with a fantastic opportunity to explore the superb Schonbrunn Palace. This is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, and features fantastic rococo architecture. With over 1,400 rooms and expansive gardens, it’s no wonder it’s such a hit.

During our visit, we’ll get a chance to tour the house and gardens, and will surely be impressed by the grandiosity of the attraction. Everything about Schonbrunn Palace is over the top, but in the best possible way, as it showcases the luxury of Vienna’s old monarchy.

    OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS

    Danube Valley
    Full Day: Danube Valley

The Danube Valley is one of Austria’s most picturesque locations, as the River Danube winds its way through the alpine landscape.
