Sorrento Highlights

Old Town

With its narrow, cobblestone streets full of artisan workshops, boutiques, churches and limoncello shops, Sorrento’s historic centre is certainly charming. Take in the beautiful architecture as you explore, and be sure to enjoy a coffee in the city’s main square, Piazza Tasso.

Marina Grande

Despite its name translating to ‘big marina,’ Marina Grande is actually the smaller of Sorrento’s two marinas. One of the most picturesque areas of the city, Marina Grande boasts a volcanic sand beach and a waterfront lined with delightful restaurants.

Cloister of San Francesco

Originally built as a monastery in the 7th century, the cloister is a showpiece of architectural styles and one of Sorrento’s most notable sights. A distinctive tree stands proudly in the centre, which provides the perfect backdrop for weddings that are held here.

We have recently returned from another Self Drive holiday to Llandudno, staying at the Marine Hotel. We had the most wonderful time - Hotel was again clean and comfortable and was beautifully warm (which was needed). All staff are wonderfully friendly and welcoming and we could not fault this holiday - we always enjoy our stay and cannot wait to return.
