Days Two to Four: Grantham
We spend the next three days just outside the lovely Lincolnshire market town of Grantham, during which time we will take three included excursions to explore some of the best attractions and cities the East Midlands has to offer.
We visit the historic city of Lincoln where you will have free time to explore the beautiful city which was once one of the major religious centres of medieval England.
We also visit the city of Nottingham famous for its castle and Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem Inn at the foot of castle hill, which claims to be the oldest pub in the country and traces its history back more than 800 years. We then tour Robin Hood country to the north of the city taking in Sherwood Forest and the towns and villages around the area from where the legend of Robin Hood has grown up over hundreds of years.
Finally we visit Gainsborough Old Hall, one of the best preserved medieval manor houses in England, famed for its royal connections, ghost sightings and fabulously preserved interior. (B,D)
