The Local Area

Included Excursions

Full Day: Holy Island

Today our adventure begins as we enjoy a visit to the delightful tidal island of Lindisfarne, also known as ‘Holy Island’ due to its ancient religious heritage. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is accessed by a causeway and it feels so remote an outpost you can imagine how it has changed little in its history. Highlights on the island include the ruins of the Priory and castle, which both add to the atmospheric feeling of isolation of the island.

Half Day: Hexham Abbey

Today we visit Hexham Abbey in the historic market town of Hexham, where faith has been celebrated for more than 1,340 years. Be inspired by the sense of heritage, worship and community that are unique to this beautiful place.
