Eastern Europe is a mecca for those interested in exploring the heritage and culture of this part of the world’s best cities. During this awe-inspiring holiday, we’ll travel to five of Eastern Europe’s most fascinating cities, including Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg. Touring through the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Austria, this holiday will allow us to enjoy a superb holiday filled with interesting excursions.

Day 1 - UK to Prague
Fly from your chosen airport to Prague, where you will be met and transferred to Prague for our two night stay at the 4-star Jurys Inn Hotel (or similar). Our coach and driver will arrive at the hotel later this evening in time for dinner. (D)

Day 2 -  Prague
This morning enjoy an introduction to Prague on our guided city tour. This amazing city set astride the river Vltava, served as the capital of the historic region of Bohemia for centuries and boasts many impressive landmarks including the Old Town Square. (B,D) 

Day 3 - Prague to Krakow
Today we depart Prague and cross into Poland continuing to the Krakow, where our base for the next two nights is the 4-star Hotel Centrum (or similar). (B,D) 

Day 4 - Krakow
Join our included guided city tour and uncover this beautiful city with entrance to the castle and cathedral and enjoy time at leisure to explore the quaint streets and see the market square, the largest medieval centre in Europe, with its Cloth Hall topped with gargoyles. (B,D) 

Day 5 -  Krakow to Budapest
We leave Krakow and travel south to Budapest where we stay at our 4-star Hotel Expo Budapest (or similar), for two nights. Explore at your leisure this evening or relax in our hotel. (B,D)

Day 6 -  Budapest
Discover beautiful Budapest, a treasure trove of baroque, Neoclassical and Art Nouveau buildings, on our included guided city tour. Here the two sides of the city straddle the river Danube – Buda to the west, centred around the Castle Hill area, and Pest, with its wide elegant boulevards, to the east of the city. (B,D) 

Day 7 - Budapest to Vienna
Departing Budapest we head to the Austrian capital of Vienna for an included guided city coach tour this afternoon. The historical centre is rich in architecture including baroque castles and gardens, as well as the Ringstrasse lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks. We spend two nights at the 4-star Best Western Amedia (or similar). (B,D)

Day 8 - Vienna
Today we offer an optional excursion to the magnificent Schonnbrunn Palace, or you can explore the city at your leisure. (B,D) 

Day 9 - Vienna to Salzburg
Today we say goodbye to Vienna and continue to picturesque Salzburg. During the afternoon you can enjoy our guided city tour or explore at your own leisure. We continue then to our hotel in nearby Eugendorf on the city outskirts, the welcoming Hotel Berghof Dachsteinblick. (B,D) 

Day 10 -  Eugendorf
Today we offer a full day optional excursion to visit the Austrian Lake District, or you can enjoy more of Salzburg at your leisure. (B,D) 

Day 11 -  Eugendorf to UK
Transfer to Salzburg or Munich airport for your return flight home. (B)

Arcotel Wimberger

The hotel’s central location makes it perfect for fans of art and culture as well as those who love to shop. Close by are Vienna’s main shopping boulevard, the Mariahilfer Straße, the Wiener Stadthalle, the city’s major concert venue, and numerous galleries and boutiques. The city’s museum quarter is also just a few minutes away either on foot or by public transport.

The hotel has its own restaurant, the which serves traditional Viennese dishes and also boasts the most famous brunch anywhere in the city. The bar is decorated throughout in colonial style and with an impressive range of speciality whiskies to delight even the most discerning connoisseur. There are also plenty of other restaurants and pubs in the vicinity of the hotel.

Budapest City Tour

One of the most magnificent cities in the world, Budapest is filled with incredible sights and sounds. Join us as we take a city tour to learn more about this wonderful capital of Hungary, with its stunning architecture, historical attractions and marvellous culture.

Admire sights such as the Hungarian Parliament building and Liberty Square, with its mixture of art nouveau and historicist architecture. There’s also the House of Terror Museum, the beautiful St Stephen's Basilica and the neo-Gothic Fisherman's Bastion.


Guided Walking Tour of Prague

Enjoy a tour of the main sights of this historical city, known as the 'City of a Hundred Spires'. Take in the splendid views of the Vitava River, see the famous Charles' Bridge and colourful Old Town Square. There are so many historical buildings to admire, making this is a wonderful city to stroll at leisure. 


Krakow Guided City Tour

Krakow is famed for its marvellous historical monuments, which really allow the city to stand out. It was once the capital of Poland and dates from the Stone Age, and it still maintains its magical atmosphere. Legend has it that the city was founded when a man named Krakus built the beginnings of the city above a cave occupied by a dragon called Smok Wawelski.

We’ll take an exciting tour of the city to find out about its most famous landmarks, and to learn about its fascinating history. 


Salzburg Guided City Tour

Salzburg is known for its splendid architecture, much of which is in the extraordinary baroque style. It’s also known for its use in the ‘Sound of Music’ with the grand views seen in the film visible in real life in the city. We’ll take a guided city tour to uncover Salzburg’s history and to see the sights in this captivating city.


Vienna Guided City Tour

Vienna is often thought of as the jewel in Austria’s crown, being the country’s capital city and famous for its connections to gifted musicians. It was also home to Sigmund Freud and he conducted much of his major work and studies from his apartments and office in the city between 1886 and 1938 when he was forced to flee Nazism. With a rich culture and heritage, our guided city tour of Vienna will give us more information about how this city has become the marvellous destination it is today.


Optional Excursions

Full Day: Austrian Lakes

The Austrian lakes are known for their stunning beauty, and we’ll take a tour to some of them during this excellent excursion. No matter what time of year it is, this area is always attractive, and we’ll get to admire the natural beauty of the location throughout this excursion.


Prague Castle District Guided Tour

The Castle District in Prague surrounds the magnificent Prague Castle, which is thought to be the largest in Europe and was once home to the Kings of Bohemia. Today, Prague’s President resides in the castle, and it is still a sight for sore eyes.

Dating from 870, Prague Castle holds a range of fantastic artefacts of the city’s history, and it also enjoys some of the city’s best architecture. We’ll be treated to an optional guided tour of the Castle District, as well as spending time in Prague Castle itself. There are numerous structures counted as part of Prague Castle, with the Castle buildings including St. Vitus Cathedral, St George’s Basilica, St. George’s Convent, and many others.


Vienna and Schonbrunn Palace

Our panoramic tour gives us a wonderful overview of Vienna. We drive along the famous Ringstrasse, which encompasses the city centre.

Along the way we see a host of sights including the State Opera House, Johann Strauss House, where he had composed the famous waltz, Museum of Fine Arts, Natural History Museum, Parliament, City Hall, Votiv Church, University, the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), the Volksgarten and the Court Theatre. We then continue onto the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the Hapsburgs.

We take a guided tour of the state rooms. Highlights include the long Great Gallery, the Round and Oval Chinese Rooms, the Millions Room, so named because Maria Teresa allegedly paid over a million silver florins to have it decorated. We also have time to see the beautiful formal gardens.
