The Loire Valley is home to some of the finest Gardens and Chateaux in Europe and we will visit a selection of these on this tour. Combined with interesting towns and wine tasting you will experience the Loire Valley at its finest.
Day one - UK to Rouen
We drive through the UK and cross the channel to Calais before continuing to our overnight hotel in the Rouen area. (D)
Day two to four - Rouen and Loire Valley
We have free time in Rouen before continuing to the Loire Valley. Steeped in history it is famous for its Cathedral of Notre-Dame. At one end of the rue du Gros-Horloge you will find Place du Vieux-Marche, famous for being the sight of the burning of Joan of Arc. In the Loire Valley we will visit Chateau de Chenonceau, which is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture and has stunning gardens. We will visit Amboise with its famous Royal Chateau of which you will have the chance to visit. On our way back to our hotel we have included a visit to the Caves des Vouvray to see how they produce some of their wines. We finish off with a tasting of their great wines. (B,D)
Day five - En route Chateau Chambord
Leaving Tours behind we visit Chateau Chambord on our return journey. It is the largest of the Chateaux in the Loire Valley with over 400 rooms and originally was only used as a hunting lodge. We continue our tour to Northern France where we will have our return overnight stay. (B,D)
Day six - Return to UK
We make the short journey to Calais for our return channel crossing and continue our journey home. (B)

En Route: Chateau Chambord
We will visit the largest of all Chateaux in the Loire on our way back home. The gardens have been renovated and replanted in 2017 and provide a stunning backdrop for the Chateau.
En Route: Rouen
We will enjoy an en route visit to Rouen as we drive down to the Loire. Spend time seeing the famous sites before continuing our journey.
Full Day: Amboise And Caves Des Vouvray
We enjoy a full day excursion to Amboise with time to explore the town. There is an optional visit possible to Chateau Amboise where you can visit the Royal Chateau, the Chapel (Leonardo da Vinci’s tomb) and the beautiful gardens. We will then enjoy a visit to Caves des Vouvray to learn about how they make their famous wines of which you will taste!
Full Day: Tours And Chateau De Chenonceau
Spend the morning in your host town of Tours, famous for being the gateway to the Chateaux of the Loire. The medieval centre and renowned shopping areas delight tourists. We continue to Chateau de Chenonceau one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture and has stunning gardens.
There is an optional visit possible to Chateau Amboise where you can visit the Royal Chateau, the Chapel (Leonardo da Vinci’s tomb) and the beautiful gardens.
