    We will be staying at Scalford Hall Hotel in the wonderful Leicestershire countryside just five minutes outside of Melton Mowbray. The hotel has a gym and games room and a fantastic restaurant, with the chefs preparing great meals using locally sourced ingredients.

    Excursion to the vibrant city of Leicester. Following the discovery of Richard III’s remains in Leicester in 2012 and his reburial at Leicester cathedral in 2015, interest in this often misunderstood king has never been higher. We will have the opportunity to visit the tomb of Richard III who was finally laid to rest here almost 530 years after his death at The Battle of Bosworth Field. Other attractions include the National Space Centre and a great shopping district in the city centre if you fancy a little retail therapy.

    From the hotel it’s just a short excursion to the nearby, quintessential English market town of Melton Mowbray, which is renowned for its stilton cheese and pork pies. There are also plenty of places of historical interest, particularly in relation to the English Civil war when Melton Mowbray was a strong Parliamentarian garrison, with two battles being fought in the town.
