Zermatt Highlights

Matterhorn

One of the most famous mountains in the world, the Matterhorn provides a picture-postcard background for Zermatt. Known for its iconic pyramid shape, its jagged peaks and dramatic slopes are visible from almost anywhere in the town.

Matterhorn Museum

This fascinating museum tells the gripping and turbulent history of the world-famous Matterhorn Mountain, from its African origin to the eventful first ascent. Visitors can also learn about Zermatt’s transformation from a village of farmers to a renowned Alpine resort.

Beautiful Town

Located at the base of the Matterhorn, Zermatt boasts traditional bakeries, charming Swiss-style chalets, and quaint streets brimming with bars, restaurants and shops. The town has been closed to traffic since 1961, allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in the atmosphere.
