York Christmas Market and Harrogate

Regional departure by coach, then to Leeds with time for some Christmas shopping (apart from self-drive passengers). Why not explore some of the city’s historic arcades? Thornton’s Arcade was built in 1878 – the first of many shopping arcades in Leeds. The neo-Gothic structure was designed by George Smith for its namesake Charles Thornton, who decided to cover the shopping alleys. Queen’s Arcade is a charming Grade-II listed building named in honour of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee and has stood on Briggate since 1889.

We visit the Victorian spa town of Harrogate where you can take in the Christmas Fayre. The festive stalls will contain arts and crafts, tasty treats, festive decorations and unique gift ideas. The market is in the heart of Harrogate’s shopping streets, so you can get the most out of the Christmas shopping experience.

Included excursion to York. The annual Christmas Fayre, set in the historic square, has continued since medieval times. The city comes alive with Victorian costumed traders, carol singers and delicious smells of roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate laced with brandy.
