Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the Royal Hotel in Whitby for three nights. We enjoy a tea, coffee or mulled wine with a festive treat on arrival to get us into the spirit of the season.
Today we enjoy a magical visit to the cathedral city of York. Step back into the Middle Ages by visiting the ‘Shambles,’ with its overhanging timber-framed houses, traditional shops and cobbled pathways. Exploring the Christmas market is a must at this time of year; treat yourself to a mulled wine in the alpine bar; find a thoughtful gift in one of the wooden stalls; and soak up the enchanting atmosphere as you wander the illuminated streets. Whilst here, be sure to take in the magnificent York Minster – one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe.
We return back to the hotel in time for our Christmas dinner, complete with a complimentary glass of wine.
Relax in Whitby, or why not join our optional excursion to Scarborough. The largest town on the Yorkshire coast, this popular seaside resort welcomes visitors all year around. You will have free time to explore the main town centre or why not take a ride on Scarborough’s Victorian cliff railway on the historic South Bay. Opened in 1881 the company carries 500,000 passengers a year down to the seafront from the town.
We return to the hotel for a festive afternoon treat.
