The presents are unwrapped and the turkey has been eaten, but that doesn’t mean the festive spirit doesn’t live on! Enjoy the period in between Christmas and New Year, known as Twixmas in rural Chollerford in the heart of Hadrian Wall country with some of the North East’s finest cities nearby.

Local departure by coach, then on to Chollerford and our hotel for three nights.
Today we visit the vibrant city of Newcastle. Famous for its industrial heritage, its brown ale, popular nightlife and distinct ‘Geordie’ accent, there’s a lot to do in Newcastle. It began life as a Roman fort on Hadrian’s Wall in 122AD and from there has developed into a cosmopolitan city. Visit one of Newcastle’s many museums and galleries, the Castle, or the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, an unusual structure spanning the River Tyne. Of course there are plenty of shops that are perfect for some shopping in the post-Christmas sales, and many restaurants and pubs to enjoy.
Relax in Chollerford, or join our optional excursion to Durham, which Bill Bryson called ‘a perfect little city’. The magnificent cathedral, Norman castle and the Durham Museum and Heritage Centre are all worth visiting, but simply strolling through the medieval streets is a joy in itself.
with an extra experience
We depart the hotel this morning and return home.
You will stay for three nights at The George Hotel in Chollerford.
