Christmas comes early on a Turkey & Tinsel break! Enjoy the festive season twice this year with mulled wine on arrival, Christmas dinner with a complimentary drink, and a festive cream tea one day. Get into the festive spirit in Portpatrick , an attractive village wrapped around a picturesque harbour on the coast of Gallorway.

5 Day Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    Local departure by coach, then on to Portpatrick and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a tea, coffee or mulled wine with a festive treat on arrival to get us into the spirit of the season.

  • Day 2: Ayrshire Coast and Ayr

    Today we travel along the Ayrshire Coast to reach Ayr in the heart of Robert Burns country. As the National Poet, he is widely regarded and celebrated throughout Scotland and nowhere is that more apparent than in Ayr, his birthplace. Ayr also has excellent beaches for when the elusive Scottish sunshine appears, and has an excellent town centre for those less sunny days. Enjoy time at leisure to stroll down the esplanade or browse the shops. We return back to the hotel in time for our 'Christmas Dinner' complete with a complimentary glass of wine.

  • Day 3: Day at leisure or Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright

    Relax in Portpatrick or join our optional excursion to Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright. Castle Douglas is known as ‘The Food Town’ and has many shops and cafes selling quality produce from over 50 local businesses that sell food and drink. We return via Kirkcudbright, a small town with its own nickname of ‘The Artists’ Town’ as it has long been a magnet for artists.

  • Day 4: Newton Stewart

    This morning we visit Newton Stewart. The town was named after its founder, William Stewart, son of the Earl of Galloway. It thrived on its cotton and carpet industries and is now more famous for its salmon and trout fishing on the River Cree. There is an interesting museum as well as an array of shops, cafes and restaurants. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.

  • Day 5:

    We depart the hotel this morning full of festive cheer and return home.
