Cornish cream tea or Devonshire cream tea? Why decide, when you can enjoy both on our fantastic twin-centre break taking in the best of the South West. Stay in beautiful Newquay for 3 nights and Ilfracombe on the North Devon coast for four nights, and explore the pretty coastal towns that Devon and Cornwall are so famous for, along with a visit to the fascinating Eden Project.

8 Day Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the Marina Hotel in Newquay for three nights.

  • Day 2: North Cornish Coast and Cream Tea

    Cornwall is famous for many things, including its pretty coastal towns, its cream teas and its cider – and today you can enjoy all three! We explore the beautiful Atlantic Coast, then call at Healey's Cyder Farm, before enjoying a traditional Cornish cream tea – jam first, then cream!

  • Day 3: Falmouth

    On the south coast of Cornwall, Falmouth is a bustling harbour town which captures the spirit of the sea. Known for its deep water harbour, why not take a short cruise here, or simply enjoy the wealth of attractions throughout the town.

  • Day 4: Newquay to Ilfracombe, via Eden Project

    Today we wave farewell to Cornwall, but not before stopping at the Eden Project, one of the most popular attractions in the region. Experience the sights, smells and scale of the rainforests in Rainforest Biome, amble amongst orange and lemon trees in the Mediterranean Biome, and in the 30-acre outdoor garden, discover a wide variety of plants that flourish in the Cornish sunshine. We then continue onto Ilfracombe in Devon and the Dilkhusa Grand Hotel, which is our base for the next four nights.

  • Day 5: Day at leisure or Lynton and Lynmouth

    Relax in Ilfracombe, or join our optional excursion to Lynton and Lynmouth, twin coastal towns, with bustling Lynmouth on the shore with its busy harbour, and clifftop Lynton offering superb views.

  • Day 6: Clovelly

    We visit the charming seaside village of Clovelly which huddles around a port and is completely pedestrianised, adding to its charm. From the village’s steep cobbled high street there is a fantastic view of Bideford Bay and the Isle of Lundy. Relying on donkeys and sledges to navigate the steep streets, much has remained unchanged for the small population who still live here, but thankfully for the tourists who visit, there are now Land Rovers to help you back to the top of the hill (charges apply, pay locally).

  • Day 7: Barnstaple & Bideford

    Enjoy a trip calling firstly at Barnstaple, a bustling market town famous for its pottery. Following some free time to explore, we continue on to pretty Bideford.

Hotels

You will stay for three nights at the Marina Hotel in Newquay, then four nights in the Dilkhusa Grand Hotel in Ilfracombe. 

  • Dilkhusa Grand Hotel

    Formerly a Bay Hotel, at the Dilkhusa Grand Hotel, stay in the heart of Ilfracombe close to both the town centre and charming harbour. Just across the road from the hotel are the wonderful Jubilee Gardens which contain the fascinating Ilfracombe Museum and the Landmark theatre. Or if you are feeling a bit more active head to the top of Capstone Parade, the cliff that overlooks town for great views back across Ilfracombe. Relax in the hotel’s bars and lounges and enjoy good food in the restaurant.

  • Marina Hotel (Formerly Bay)

    The Marina Hotel is situated just across the road from Tolcarne Beach close to all of Newquay’s attractions Enjoy the very best of Newquay’s beaches with numerous places to enjoy the sea and sand within an easy walk of the hotel. Towan Beach is Newquay’s main spot for all the fun of the seaside, with a number of bars, restaurants and shops close by. Head a little way out of town and you can find Fistral Beach, which is huge in comparison to the beaches in town and is worth the journey for the space and scenery you will find here. A number of the rooms in the hotel are front facing with spectacular views over Tolcarne beach and to the town centre behind it. In the restaurant you can enjoy fabulous breakfasts and evening meals before enjoying a relaxing evening drink in the bar and lounge.
