Today we enjoy an included visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Located in Llanarthney, Carmarthenshire, it is renowned for its Great Glasshouse – the largest single-span glasshouse in the world. The garden also features a beautiful walled garden, a tropical house and a range of specialist gardens, including the serene Japanese Garden. Don’t miss the Birds of Prey Centre, where you can watch impressive flying displays throughout the day.
Today is a free day for you to explore beautiful Tenby, which boasts four sandy beaches. The town is encircled by medieval walls dating back to the 13th century, built by the Normans, and its picturesque harbour is famous for boat trips, including excursions to Caldey Island, home to a Cistercian monastery. The pastel-painted Georgian and Victorian houses overlooking the harbour are iconic and often photographed, and the Tenby Museum is also worth a visit as the oldest independent museum in Wales.
This morning, we visit one of Wales’s finest gardens, Aberglasney. Renowned for its Elizabethan cloister garden and diverse plant collections, it was famously featured in the BBC documentary 'A Garden Lost in Time'. The site dates back to medieval times and remained in the same family for ten generations. There is also a delightful café and gift shop to enjoy.
This afternoon brings another highlight – a nostalgic journey on the Gwili Steam Railway. More than just a train ride, it’s a chance to step back in time and experience the golden age of rural railways. With its rich history, welcoming volunteers and stunning scenery, the line follows the River Gwili, offering views of rolling hills, farmland and local wildlife.
