Please choose your preferred 5 day itinerary
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service then on to Southend-on-Sea for a four-night stay.
We start the day with a visit to historic Rochester – a place so cherished by author Charles Dickens that it featured in his works more than any other city except London.
Later in the day we continue to The Historic Chatham Dockyard. Revisit the ‘Age of Sail’, learning more about the time when the dockyard built the mighty ships that reigned over the world’s oceans. We also take a Call The Midwife tour, which will take you to the various areas of this wonderful site that were used for many scenes in the popular TV series.
Relax with a day at leisure in seaside Southend. A firm favourite amongst holiday-makers, enjoy traditional seaside fun as you explore the world-famous pier with its mile long railway, or why not uncover history at one of the thriving museums, historic houses or art spaces?
Alternatively, join our optional excursion to capital London. You'll have free time to see the sights, hit the shops or perhaps visit one of the many world-class museums!
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in sterling (cash payments only).
Today we visit Colchester – Britain's first city and the former capital of Roman Britain. Its rich history is ripe for exploring – the Romans, the Saxons, the Normans and the Victorians have all left their mark here and the award-winning Colchester Castle Museum (entry not included) is an absolute must-see.
We continue to call at Clacton-on-Sea, another popular seaside resort on England’s Sunshine Coast.
Return home.
You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Southend-on-Sea.

Coach drivers excellent. Delay in being admitted to hotel although driver had advised them of our time of arrival. Swipe card did not work to get us on our floor, had to get a member of staff to let us through, not corrected till Wednesday. Unaware of other guests in hotel who queued to collect their food parcels as we were dining, very off putting. Small portions of food , poorly stocked bar and no entertainment.

Good driver, lovely coach, atrocious journry from Cambridge interchange to Southend Too many Dartford crossings......4 in all!! Hotel reasonable but meals well down on usual Shearings food. Some trips unsuitable for the less abled (we are not) but some struggled especially at Chatham Docks, which they. say they informed all coach operators that this was unsuitable for less abled travellers. if this had been our first trip it may well have been our last. Echoed by some other passengers too. Regards, Brian

Rooms and location excellent Breakfast and starters and deserts excellent but main course should have had a choice of 3 but the third one was always a vegetarian version of the first so to me it did not feel like 3 choices Now entertainment despite being advertised in brochure
