After breakfast, we head over to RAF Coningsby for a fascinating visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre. Enjoy a tour of the hangar, led by knowledgeable guides – many with first-hand experience with the aircrafts. From inside the hangar, it’s possible to watch RAF BBMF technicians at work as they maintain these historic machines. The tour lasts between 60 and 90 minutes and features an incredible line-up of aircraft, including the Lancaster, Spitfires, Hurricanes and Chipmunks.
Following our visit, we head into the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln. Here, you will have a few hours to explore this lovely city. Why not make your way to the grand cathedral or spend some time relaxing on the waterfront at Brayford Wharf?
Please note: We cannot guarantee which aircrafts will be present when we visit. As RAF Coningsby is a live military environment, no bags are allowed within the hangar. There are no secure storage facilities on site. Cameras without bags are permitted. If you wish to bring purses, wallets, mobile phones and other valuables, you can put them in a small plastic bag. You can get one from the visitor centre upon arrival.
The choice is yours! Spend the day at leisure in Skegness, taking in the attractions along the flat promenade or visiting the traditional pier. Alternatively, join our optional excursion to the market town of Boston for its popular Wednesday market – a well-known attraction in its own right. Here, a wide range of traders offer everything from fresh local produce, meat, fish, cheese, and flowers to toys, fabrics, household goods, and clothing. There’s also the chance to enjoy a drink or a tasty bite from one of the outdoor food stalls.
with an extra experience
This optional excursion is available to pre-book or you can book during your tour.
Today, we head up the coast to the resort of Mablethorpe. Smaller than Skegness, Mablethorpe still offers the visitor plenty of traditional seaside attractions along with a sandy beach to enjoy.
Following our seaside visit, we head inland to the charming town of Louth on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Look out for the imposing mid-nineteenth century town hall which houses an impressive ballroom and the Compton theatre organ. We return to Skegness with a scenic drive through the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds.
