Scenic Slovenia and Lake Bled by Express Coach

Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then travel by Express Coach overnight to Slovenia.

We will arrive in the town of Bled in the early afternoon where we check into our hotel. Relax and take the chance to start exploring the area.

We take a short journey to Lake Bled today. The lake is one of the most scenic in the world with its beautiful emerald green water. It is known for Bled Island with its pretty white church in the centre of the lake.

Take the opportunity to travel onto the island on a pletna gondola, or walk around the lake which will take around an hour. Before we leave we will visit Bled Castle, which sits high above the lake on a cliff 130m above the lake and is both a symbol of Slovenia and one of the country’s biggest attractions.

Today, our included excursion takes us to the Slovenian resort of Piran. Piran is a real jewel on the Adriatic Coast, with close links to Venice.

Explore the Old Town with its labyrinth of alleyways, covered arches, churches and Venetian influenced architecture. Relax in Tartini Square and watch the world go by, as you look across the charming harbour.

Later, spend time in the neighbouring resort of Portoroz, whose name translates as ‘Port of Roses’.

Today we have an included excursion to Ljubljana. This historic capital, developed by the Romans, is now a blend of Baroque churches and mansions overlooked by a medieval castle.

Spend the day at leisure exploring this fascinating city, take a stroll along the willow-lined walkways along the Ljubljanica River, or join our optional guided tour. The lively Prešeren Square, everyone’s favourite meeting place, is adorned with a garland of graceful Secessionist buildings. The unique Three Bridges spans the River Ljubljanica, which winds its way through the city.

We later visit the breathtaking caves at Postojna, where you will take an underground train through magically lit halls to view the beautiful formations of stalagmites and stalactites.

Join our optional excursion to the Triglav National Park. Enjoy a drive through the mountains to the resort of Kranjska Gora. Nestled in the tri-border region, Kranjska Gora is a nature lover’s paradise in the summer and a famous ski resort in the winter.

We depart this afternoon and begin our overnight travel for the ferry back to the UK.
