Today we explore the Lake District from the water and the tracks! We board the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway where steam engines haul traditional 1950’s carriages through the countryside scenery of the Leven Valley, leisurely transporting you to Lakeside Station. From here we continue our journey with Windermere Lake Cruises. Sit back as we cruise along the beautiful waters of Lake Windermere, disembarking in pretty Bowness where we have some free time to explore.

You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Newby Bridge Hotel at the southern tip of Lake Windermere or 3-star Shap Wells Hotel

Shap Wells Hotel

The Shap Wells Hotel is situated in a secluded, wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells and surrounded by mountain streams, the ideal place from which to explore the Lakes. The hotel has retained many of its original features over the years and much time has been taken to retain the character of the building. The restaurant serves an extensive menu, in keeping with the hotel surroundings and seasons, and the Riverside Lounge & Bar provides the perfect spot to relax with a pre or post dinner drink! Keep yourself entertained in the games room which features a full-sized snooker table, pool table and table tennis, and there is a small aerobic gymnasium available too.
