Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to our 4-star hotel on Hayling Island for four nights.
Included excursion across the Solent to the Diamond Isle, the Isle of Wight. Steeped in history and boasting a breathtaking coastline and a wealth of attractions, the island itself is situated just five miles from the coast.
The island was a firm favourite with Queen Victoria and we include a visit to her residence, Osborne House. Queen Victoria is quoted as saying ‘it’s impossible to imagine a prettier spot’ and the house was regarded fondly by her, Prince Albert and their nine children. The Italianate Palace is a joy to explore and boasts spectacular views across the Solent.
We later see some of the other highlights of the island, including Cowes and Newport, regarded as the capital of the island, with its elegant Georgian squares historic quayside.
Join our included excursion, which takes us first to the charming resort of Bognor Regis. Enjoy a stroll along the promenade and admire the views.
Our day continues with a visit to the historic cathedral city of Chichester. Boasting a long and fascinating history, best represented in its architecture, Chichester has a medieval heart, protected by its old Roman Walls. Be sure to visit the magnificent 900 year old Cathedral, the focal point of the city.
Enjoy a free day in Portsmouth. Spend time shopping in Gunwharf Quays, a rejuvenated area with bars, shops and restaurants. Climb the Spinnaker Tower for incredible panoramic views. Or visit the Historic Dockyard, home to Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory and numerous naval museums.
This historic city, with its long naval and maritime history has plenty to offer the visitor.
