Passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family, Chatsworth is an iconic stately home full of art, masterpieces and objects that span 4,000 years of history from across the world.
With over 25 rooms to explore, marvel at the magnificent Painted Hall, admire the regal State Rooms and wander the beautiful Sculpture Gallery before venturing into the spectacular grounds and gardens.
During this festive period, discover 24 rooms filled with Christmas wonder and the sights, sounds and scents of the season. Travel under archways adorned with candy canes, handmade Christmas stockings and mistletoe, and explore a winter wonderland and glittering Christmas tree brooch forest. At the heart of the house, you’ll find Father Christmas’ workshop; a hive of activity as preparations are underway for the all-important Christmas Eve deliveries. Keep your eyes peeled for his little helpers around the house, who you may spot making mischief while Father Christmas is away.
Today, we discover the quaint villages of the Peak District.
Enjoy a visit to charming Eyam, which is known for its associations with the Black Death. Dark history aside, today it is a pretty village with a craft centre, sculpture garden and market hall.
We also call at idyllic Castleton. Nestled in the Hope Valley, this quintessential English hamlet is steeped in history.
Another day in the glorious Peak District awaits as we visit Buxton, the gateway to the Peaks. Stunning ornamental gardens and Georgian and Victorian architecture provide a beautiful backdrop to this charming town. There is a wealth of independent shops, cafés and restaurants to enjoy!
We also explore pretty Bakewell, best known for its famous tart and beautifully location on the banks of the River Wye.
