Today we visit Dorchester, the county town of Dorset and a historic market town. Fans of the acclaimed poet and writer Thomas Hardy will be aware of the town’s connection, with is featuring as ‘Casterbridge’ in many of his works, and with Hardy’s birthplace located on the outskirts of Dorchester in Higher Bockhampton. Shoppers may prefer to browse the central pedestrianised area with its arcades of shops, whilst history-lovers may prefer a visit to the Dorset County Museum or the Keep Military Museum. We return to the hotel with time to get ready ahead of tonight’s celebrations. Enjoy a fabulous New Year’s Eve Dinner with drinks reception and count down for midnight!
