Today we visit Dorchester, the county town of Dorset and a historic market town. Fans of the acclaimed poet and writer Thomas Hardy will be aware of the town’s connection, with is featuring as ‘Casterbridge’ in many of his works, and with Hardy’s birthplace located on the outskirts of Dorchester in Higher Bockhampton. Shoppers may prefer to browse the central pedestrianised area with its arcades of shops, whilst history-lovers may prefer a visit to the Dorset County Museum or the Keep Military Museum. We return to the hotel with time to get ready ahead of tonight’s celebrations. Enjoy a fabulous New Year’s Eve Dinner with drinks reception and count down for midnight!

The Russell Hotel is situated on the glorious seafront esplanade of Weymouth and adjoins the Hotel Prince Regent. Refurbishments in 2017 saw the reception area opened up and the installation of a new seafront coffee shop and lounge area for our guests to enjoy the view from. These new facilities in addition to the existing lounge, games room and bar with live nightly entertainment offer all the facilities you need to enjoy your break. Being situated on the seafront, the hotel also offers a number of seaview rooms that really make the most of the hotels fantastic location.
