Local departure or Home Connect service, then we travel to Scotland. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as we cross the Scottish border and head for the Highlands. A warm welcome awaits us as we arrive at the hotel and enjoy dinner.
You will then have some free time in Inverness. Nestled on the banks of the River Ness, in this charming city, ancient history meets Highland hospitality. Wander through the cobbled streets of the Old Town and make sure you visit the indoor Victorian market. It dates back to 1890 and has a range of independent shops and cafés.
This afternoon, we visit the site of one of Scotland's most famous battlefields. The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising of 1745, fought on 16 April 1746. It marked a decisive defeat for the Jacobite forces and ended their campaign to restore the Stuart monarchy. The visitor centre features artefacts from both sides of the battle, as well as interactive displays. Guests can walk to the battlefield and see the memorials to the clans. It remains a poignant symbol of Scottish history and identity.
Today we go in search of Nessie! Enjoy a delightful tour of legendary Loch Ness, travelling to Fort Augustus at the southern tip of the loch and continuing on past the dramatic ruins of Urquhart Castle. Be sure to have your camera ready in case you spot Nessie on your included cruise of the loch. You will have some free time in Fort Augustus before we head back to the hotel, enjoying spectacular views along the way.
Today you can either enjoy a day at leisure in the hotel and explore Strathpeffer at your own pace, or join our optional excursion to Ullapool, a picturesque fishing village on Scotland’s northwest coast.
