Venice Guided Tour

Overview

Today we have an included excursion to Treviso, with its compact walled centre and narrow cobbled streets criss-crossed by waterways. We meet our guide in the Piazza dei Signori with its impressive palaces. Enjoy your morning at the typical market of the city.

We have free time for lunch and the afternoon at leisure, before we visit a local winery and enjoy a tasting of the local produce, Prosecco!

Overview

Today we have an excursion to Verona, one of Italy’s most romantic cities, thanks to the fact that Shakespeare chose this city to set his romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet.

While the couple were purely fictional, there are many attractions which claim by local legend to have once set the scene for Romeo and Juliet. See Castelvecchio and its Scaligero Bridge, then Bra square and the Roman Arena.

Our excursion continues with an afternoon visit to Sirmione, a small fishing village, and one of the most photographed resorts of the region.

Verona and Lake Garda

Overview

We head to Caorle, just along the coast from Venice, known for its beach and the natural landscape that surrounds the town.

While here, explore St. Stephen's Cathedral, a beautiful Romanesque church, and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Angel which sits atmospherically overlooking the sea.

The centre of Caorle was formerly made up of three small islands joined together by four bridges – there were no roads, only navigable canals, which fishermen's houses looked out onto. These houses have been brought back to life with the trademark colours of the Venetian tradition.

The tour it's self was great, the coach on the other hand was not fit for purpose. No leg room, no usb points, battery had to be changed on the first full day as the coach wouldn't start from the off at Stop 24 and again when we had to leave the ferry at Calais and the toilet obviously hadn't been cleaned before the tour, it was stinking. Wouldn't recommend an express tour to anyone!

This was a long coach journey with a coach that needed to be jump started before it even had a passenger step onto it. The coach had a broken seatbelt in one seat and a broken armrest in another. Poor quality. The tours involve a lot of walking, Venice tour 17,000 steps. The hotel has lots of stairs and steps, the steps have no rails and a Shearing customer slipped on the wet stairs and badly bruised the whole of his arm. On the plus side Venice and Carole are beautiful and our coach drivers Paul and Marco were amazing

Booked on line after ringing for some more info. Call centre helpful and pleasant. Website booking form a bit awkward at accepting telephone numbers.

I really enjoyed myself, I was a bit nervous before hand first time I have been away without a family member, but I do make friends easily so settled in really good. My room had a sea view it was perfect, beautiful. The bed was so comfortable, I probably had one the best sleeps the first night, but the rest of the week was fine too. i only had one problem when I went to eat in the restaurant I had ordered soup with a bread roll, well it was rock hard, well I put that down as an error of judgement on their part.

My husband and I have had several holidays with Shearings and find them a first rate company, they are always wonderfully polite and helpful and do everything within their power to give you a fantastic holiday! We love travelling with them and have already booked a few more holidays in the near future!
