In the world-famous Kew Gardens, over 50,000 living plants thrive within this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site. There’s plenty to discover, from the soaring Temperate House and the exotic Princess of Wales Conservatory to the striking Great Pagoda and iconic Palm House. After exploring, we return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Today, we visit historic Winchester, England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. Admire its magnificent cathedral and explore the city’s many world-class attractions.
Later, enjoy a nostalgic journey aboard a heritage steam train on the Watercress Line, taking in the evocative sights, sounds, and scents of steam travel as it winds through 10 miles of beautiful Hampshire countryside, adjacent to the South Downs National Park.
We travel to Surrey today to visit the RHS flagship, RHS Garden Wisley. Spanning 240 acres, this is both the historic home of the RHS and a garden looking firmly to the future, featuring the planet-friendly RHS Hilltop – The Home of Gardening Science. Learn about the pioneering research taking place to help protect the natural world, and enjoy highlights such as the World Food Garden, the tranquil Wellbeing Garden, and the Wildlife Garden alive with insects. From the fragrant Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden to the tropical Glasshouse and the sweeping views atop Battleston Hill, every corner offers something to delight the senses.
