ABOUT THE TOUR
With its association to the Lake Poets and being the location of the ever-popular Cat Bells hills, Derwentwater has long attracted visitors trying to find a classic lakeland setting. From here, we’ll explore the beautiful Lake District and cruise along Windermere.
TOUR INCLUDES
Day 1:
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the Derwentwater Hotel near Keswick for four nights.

Day 2: Windermere and Ambleside with Cruise
Excursion visiting the bustling town of Bowness, a popular lakeside town that is bursting with attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter, the charming St Martin's church and the Windermere Jetty Museum which is dedicated to the boats, people and rich history of the lake.
After some free time, we board our cruise and have chance to admire the stunning surrounding scenery from the waters as we sail to Ambleside, at the head of the lake. Ambleside is home to one of the Lake District's most iconic sights - the tiny Bridge House that sits above Stock Ghyll Beck.

Day 3: At leisure or Penrith
Enjoy a day at leisure where you can relax at the hotel or perhaps take a stroll to nearby Keswick. This market town is popular with walkers and the surrounding scenery is spectacular - perhaps take a cruise across Derwentwater and join one of the many walks in the local area.
Alternatively, join our optional excursion to Penrith, with its cosy pubs and quaint tea rooms. This historic market town is a delight to explore with cobbled lanes and a wealth of independent shops.

Day 4: Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass
Today we travel to Ullswater, regarded by many as the most beautiful lake in England. Its pretty tree-lined shores and tranquil waters are a sight to behold.
We then travel over the spectacular 1500 foot Kirkstone Pass, the region's highest pass open to motor traffic. Near the summit, stands the Kirkstone Pass Inn, a former important coaching inn and the third highest public house in England.

Day 4: Grasmere and Keswick
Enjoy an excursion to the quaint village of Grasmere which lies at the heart of the Lake District. This charming village is home to the tiny Sarah Nelson Gingerbread Shop which is located in the grounds of the pretty parish church.
We return to Keswick with some free time to explore this popular market town, on the shores of spectacular Derwentwater.
