Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to the Mercure Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, Kent for four nights.
Included excursion, as we head to the cathedral city of Canterbury, dating back to 597 AD, with its Roman walls encircling its medieval centre of cobbled streets and timber-framed houses.
Nearby, is 900-year old Leeds Castle, often described as the 'loveliest castle in the world'. The afternoon provides time to explore the castle with its labyrinth of rooms and 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens.
We head across rolling Kent countryside, where our steam train 'The Jewel of the Weald' will be waiting, in the shadows of mighty Bodiam Castle, to take us on a 50-minute journey through the Rother Valley.
It is one of the UK’s finest example of a rural light railway. Disembark at Tenterden for the short journey to Great Dixter, an historic Tudor house, complete with a Great Hall dating back to the 15th century. Its gardens are highly regarded by horticulturists throughout the world.
Our first stop is Sissinghurst - one of the most famous and extensive English gardens, which is arranged into ten areas. As you walk through each distinctly different 'room' another area of the garden is discovered. Main areas include the Rose Garden, Lime Walk, White Garden and the colourful Cottage Garden.
After lunch we make our way to the award-winning Hush Heath Winery, with 400 acres of manicured vineyards and apple orchards. Included is a guided tour of the Estate followed by a tasting session.
Return home.
