Enjoy a visit magnificent Leeds Castle. Visitors come from all around the world to view this magnificent castle, which is set in 500 acres of landscaped parkland with a maze, grotto, aviaries, vineyard and more.
Listed in the Domesday Book, the castle has a long history and has been home to six medieval queens – it is often referred to as the ‘Castle of Queens, Queen of Castles’. King Henry VIII was perhaps the most famous owner, who transformed the castle for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The stunning painting of the ‘Field of the Cloth of Gold’, which commemorates the meeting between King Henry VIII and the French King Francis I in 1520, hangs at Leeds Castle.
Today, we discover the National Fruit Collection, which is set over 150 acres of farmland with over 4,000 varieties of fruit trees. No matter the time of year there's sure to be something in season, from cherries and plums in summer to apples and quince in autumn. We take a tractor trailer tour to learn more about the unique varieties in the orchard.
This afternoon we continue to Canterbury, famous for its cathedral and medieval town.
This morning, we head to Godinton House and Gardens. Home to twelve acres of tranquil gardens which are surrounded by ancient parkland, highlights include the Rose Garden, Herbaceous Borders, and Lily Pond.
We then enjoy award-winning sparkling wine at Chapel Down Vineyard.
