Overview

Visit the charming town of Waterford. Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland, first visited by the Vikings in 852 AD. The walled city has retained much of its medieval character together with the graceful buildings from its 18th century expansion.

The parameters of the 10th century settlement can be clearly identified in The Viking Triangle. Reginald's Tower is the most historic urban medieval monument in Ireland. The elegant Chamber of Commerce building, the City Hall and the Bishop's Palace are prime examples of beautiful 18th century architecture.

The country was lovely. The transferring of coach to/ from Ireland etc was awful. V lengthy journey. Several errors made due to bad planning. Hotel in Dublin didn't know we were having a meal! On the final night.

The Riverpark hotel was excellent but the transport and lack of information from the drivers spoilt the holiday. Suffice to say we will not be booking again !

MRS. LINDA WEATHERBY, 15 days ago

The journey there and back was a nightmare 17 and 15 hrs and a pick up at 3.15 in the morning just to get to Ireland. The hotels were excellent food and staff at the first hotel exceptional.Dublin hotel was lovely but the evening meal was a disaster. We we’re stuck in a room and meal should have been 7.30 but we did not get starter until 8.10.One young waiter was serving all 48 of us The starter was poor afew lettuce leaves 2 pieces of tomato and pepper with balsamic vinegar thrown in a bowl.Looked like a child had done it.Despite several complaints from passengers no improvement in service and 9 pm before we got our main course which was cold.We gave up waiting for the sweet.Eventually manager arrived and apologised and offered us all an Irish coffee but returned 5 minutes later to say there was no cream. We did get a drink at the bar, The 2 drivers Pete and Matthew were good drivers but useless guides. They told us nothing about where we were going beforehand.Pete never knew the name of the place we were going,He would google on his phone and read it out on the way.The coach was never washed.I asked if they had cleaned the windscreen cos it was covered in flies etc and you couldn’t see out of it and they had but it was all streaky and it never got done again. We had 25 minutes in a petrol station filling up which is something I have never experienced on a coach trip before. The driver has always done that in his own time.On the journey home the first drop off couple was at a services and we had to go to 3 different services before we found the taxi.Just incompetence all the time.I still enjoyed the holiday because I love the scenery and the people. This holiday could do with altering cos we had too long in some places like Wexford. The Dublin trip would have been better if we had gone straitght to Dublin from the hotel and then we wouldn’t have got caught in all the peak time traffic. The trip to Ballykissangel was a waste of time nothing there only the pub we could have just rode through there but we had too Lomb. Then we went on toGlendalough which was beautiful but it’s a place you need a day there and it just made time in Dublin minimal and as I say we were in traffic jams for hours,

Booked on line after ringing for some more info. Call centre helpful and pleasant. Website booking form a bit awkward at accepting telephone numbers.

I really enjoyed myself, I was a bit nervous before hand first time I have been away without a family member, but I do make friends easily so settled in really good. My room had a sea view it was perfect, beautiful. The bed was so comfortable, I probably had one the best sleeps the first night, but the rest of the week was fine too. i only had one problem when I went to eat in the restaurant I had ordered soup with a bread roll, well it was rock hard, well I put that down as an error of judgement on their part.
