Experience the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in the elegant Yorkshire town of Harrogate. Watch the exhilarating performances, absorb the atmosphere of the festival and learn more about the festival with an included, insightful talk from a member of the festival team. This Victorian operatic duo wrote 14 operas, such as The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and Iolanthe. These performances sit somewhere between an opera and a musical and are referred to as operettas or ‘light operas’. The International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival was founded in 1994 to celebrate these fantastic works.
