Historic York, Lincoln and a Walk on the Wild Side

Today we head to the historic city of York. Step into a city where Romans marched, Vikings traded and medieval streets still echo with stories. Compact, characterful and endlessly photogenic, York invites you to wander through centuries at your own pace.

Don't miss The Shambles – one of Europe's best-preserved medieval streets, with overhanging timber-framed buildings, quirky shops and cosy cafés. Marvel at the Minster, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with its soaring towers, intricate stonework and magnificent stained glass. Walk the City Walls, among the best-preserved in England, offering panoramic views and a unique perspective on the city's layered past. You could even embark on a relaxing cruise along the River Ouse, taking in the city from a whole new angle.

Following a wonderful day, we head back to our hotel for dinner.

Out on the sweeping savannah, graceful giraffes, zebras and antelope roam a vast open landscape, while endangered Amur tigers prowl through their specially designed woodland home. Elsewhere, fascinating primates, lemurs and colourful species from across the globe are waiting to be discovered.

After breakfast we head to the cathedral city of Lincoln, one of England's most charming and atmospheric destinations. With its cobbled streets, medieval architecture and vibrant waterfront, Lincoln offers a truly memorable escape.

Wander the historic Cathedral Quarter, where centuries of history unfold around every corner, before strolling along the ancient walls of Lincoln Castle and admiring the magnificent exterior of Lincoln Cathedral – once the tallest building in the world. Meander down Steep Hill, a picturesque cobbled street lined with independent boutiques, traditional tea rooms and artisan shops, where every turn reveals postcard-perfect views and hidden gems.

You can even unwind at the scenic Brayford Waterfront, where boats glide across the water and cafés spill onto sunny terraces – the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely walk, take in the marina views and watch the world go by.
