On July 31st, 1902, this wonderful narrow-gauge steam train made its first journey from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. The line almost closed in 1965 to make way for a new road which was being constructed. Fortunately saved, it still operates along the Ziller Valley to this day. Take this nostalgic train from Jenbach to Mayrhofen and enjoy a little schnapps and some folk music along the way. Mayrhofen boasts beautiful views, as well as a pretty town centre. Why not relax with a drink, soak up the surrounding scenery and watch the world go by.

After some free time in Mayrhofen you will visit the “BrauKunstHaus” in Zell am Ziller and experience Tyrolean beer culture for all the senses. As part of an exciting multimedia tour, you can discover how the country and its people shape the Zillertal specialties and get to know many secrets of the region. Finally enjoy a tasting of the fresh beer.

Booked on line after ringing for some more info. Call centre helpful and pleasant. Website booking form a bit awkward at accepting telephone numbers.

I really enjoyed myself, I was a bit nervous before hand first time I have been away without a family member, but I do make friends easily so settled in really good. My room had a sea view it was perfect, beautiful. The bed was so comfortable, I probably had one the best sleeps the first night, but the rest of the week was fine too. i only had one problem when I went to eat in the restaurant I had ordered soup with a bread roll, well it was rock hard, well I put that down as an error of judgement on their part.
