We head into Germany and to Cologne. This remarkable city offers enchanting festive stalls, with the market set in front of the imposing cathedral being the most impressive. Beneath the largest Christmas tree in Rhineland, you will find 160 attractively designed pavilions. Here, you can choose from numerous sweet delicacies, watch artisans at work, and enjoy the 'original Christmas mulled wine'. We later make our way to Hannover, where we stay for four nights.
Spend a leisurely day in Hannover, a beautiful city with lots to see. From the famous Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, to the stunning New Town Hall, as well as the Ernst August memorial, and the Waterloo Column. Hannover's traditional Christmas market takes place in the historical old quarter around the Marktkirche. On the Ballhofplatz, you will find the Finnish Christmas Market, offering delicious snacks and drinks, such as Flammlachs (grilled fish) and Glögi (mulled wine).
Join us as we make our way into the charming town of Goslar, known for its UNESCO Old Town with its medieval architecture. There’s plenty to see here - why not take a stroll through the town of half-timber houses, or visit the festive markets to pick up some unique Christmas gifts.
Later, we head to quaint Wernigerode, nestled at the foot of the Harz Mountains, with an impressive medieval town centre with charming houses and dominated by a fairy-tale castle. Spend time browsing the traditional markets.
Join our optional excursion to Hamelin. Found on the River Weser, the city is a lovely German town, famous for its folk tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Discover the town’s beautiful scenery and admire its wonderful architecture. There will also be time to explore Hamelin's fairytale Christmas Markets, set in the town's picturesque Old Quarter.
