Selected rooms at the hotel are dog-friendly. There is a maximum of 2 dogs per room at a charge of £12 per night per dog, and this should be added to your booking before travel. The majority of hotels do not allow dogs to join you in the restaurant, bar or public areas of the hotel, with the exception of assistance dogs. Unfortunately when we arrived and were given our room key, on entering the room was not as we expected the bin was still full and there were no towels we went back to reception and were told they would inform housekeeping Unfortunately they had gone home so the receptionist had to find us towels and empty the bin. In the evening after dinner we tried the TV Unfortunately that didn't work it was only the batteries and they were replaced straight away. But after this fist day we had a reasonably good stay.

Great stay. Wonderful weather allowed us to enjoy sitting out in the garden. Nice quiet room. Good meals. Great range at breakfast and something for everyone on evening meal menu. Lovely helpful staff. Husband has mobility problems so a lift would have been useful. Bit shabby at entrances. Warm plates would have done justice to the well cooked food. Hope the hotel manages at some point to bring back the greenhouse and make other improvements. (Not dog lovers but on the whole they were kept under control)

The George is a beautifully situated hotel with lovely helpful staff but unfortunately is let down by the chef who provides cheap cost cutting food.
