Following a regional departure, we head for the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
Combining over 2,000 years of history with a modern waterfront, excellent shopping and a compact city centre, Cardiff is ideal for exploring. You will have free time this afternoon, so why not visit the charming Victorian shopping arcades, admire the magnificent Cardiff Castle, relax in beautiful Bute Park, or simply soak up the lively atmosphere of the city centre with its excellent shops, cafés and restaurants?
We then journey to our hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner will be served this evening in the restaurant.
Today is the highlight of our tour! We journey to Barry Island, where we will meet our expert guide and transfer to a minibus to enjoy a themed tour of the key locations used in the filming of the hit TV series Gavin & Stacey. The tour lasts approximately three and a half hours and is the official tour, approved by co-creator Ruth Jones and the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The tour begins along the iconic Barry Island seafront, known to fans as "Barrybados", where many memorable moments from the series take place. We then visit Stacey's street, one of the most recognisable residential locations from the show. There is a stop at the arcade where Nessa works, complete with the famous tattoo parlour seen throughout the series, as well as a visit to the church where Nessa nearly marries Dave and Baby Neil is christened. You'll also visit various filming locations featured in the 2019 and 2024 Christmas specials and enjoy music and stories from the show as you travel between locations.
After the tour, you will have some free time on Barry Island before we return to the hotel.
After breakfast this morning, we begin our journey home, making an en route stop in the historic city of Worcester, one of the oldest cities in England.
Worcester offers magnificent architecture, riverside charm and fascinating heritage. You will have free time to explore, so why not visit Worcester Cathedral, the city's most famous landmark with over 1,000 years of history and the tomb of King John, browse the delightful shops and cafés, or simply relax beside the River Severn?
We then continue our journey home.
