Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the Caledonian Hotel in Fort William for four nights.
This morning, we travel to Fort William for some free time to explore this historic town. For those who want to head to the summit of Ben Nevis and see the breathtaking scenery, we include your ride on the Nevis Range Mountain Gondola. The only one of its kind in Britain, the gondola reaches heights of 650 metres and takes approximately 15 minutes each way. The journey allows you to take in stunning panoramic views of the Scottish Highlands whatever the season, including the Great Glen, Ben Nevis and surrounding areas. On a clear day, this spectacular view can extend as far as the Inner Hebrides!
Please note: the Nevis Gondola ride is weather dependent.
This afternoon, we head for the Corpach Marina and join our 1-hour cruise on Loch Linnhe. Enjoy fantastic views of Ben Nevis, Corpach Shipwreck and the entrance to the Caledonian Canal, as well as exploring the small Islands. The highlight of the cruise will be the chance to see the Jacobite Steam Train as it passes the Loch. The captain will moor the boat to allow you to take unique photos of this famous train.
Please note: while the Jacobite Train is a regular service, it can also be replaced by alternative train for technical reasons.
Enjoy a day at leisure today or join our optional excursion to Loch Ness and Fort Augustus. We first stop at the Commando Memorial, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II.
We then head to the south shores of Loch Ness and to Fort Augustus. Offering spectacular views of the loch, you will have free time to soak it all in and explore. Why not visit the Caledonian Canal and watch the boats come through the loch? There are plenty of shops and cafés or you can try some typical Scottish food in one of the local restaurants. If history is your passion, there is also the Clansman Centre, where you can delve into the past and explore the traditional weapons and artifacts that tell the stories of the Highland clans and their way of life.
with an extra experience
This optional excursion is available to pre-book or you can book during your tour.
The Road to the Isles is widely considered as one of the best drives in Scotland. Travelling from Fort William to Mallaig, you will see some of the best scenery in the world, with stunning mountains, white sandy beaches, shimmering lochs, historical places and the isles of Rum, Muck, Skye and Canna. The length of the drive is approx. 45 miles, passing through Neptune's Staircase, a flight of eight lochs designed by Thomas Telford and forming a spectacular section of the Caledonian Canal.
We will make a stop at the Glenfinnan Viaduct and Visitor Centre. The viaduct famously features in the Harry Potter films, and is also where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to start the Jacobite Rising in 1745.
We continue our journey through coastal Arisaig, enjoying stunning views of Eigg, Rum and Skye along with pristine beaches on the way to Mallaig. Home to the ferry terminal to the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles, this fishing port has an interesting harbour and especially good fish and chip shops! We have some free time here before we journey back to Fort William.
After breakfast, we journey home.
Our team (based right here in the UK) will be more than happy to talk you through things - just give us a buzz!
