Peebles is just a short stroll away so perhaps you'd prefer to walk into town, but our coach will also provide a transfer in for those who prefer to sit back and relax. This beautiful Border Town straddles the River Tweed and was made a Royal Burgh in 1152. Stroll along the timeless high street with its range of independent shops, and meander the alleyways and medieval closes which have barely changed over the passing centuries.

Later, we return to the hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure for you to relax. Why not book a gin tasting at the on-site distillery or book a relaxing spa treatment?

Join us on our included excursion to Jedburgh – known for its associations with Mary Queen of Scots. Up to the 17th century, the location of the town put it at the forefront of many Border battles; today it is a charming place to visit where colourful, renovated buildings flank the Market Place.

Our day continues as we visit Abbotsford House and Gardens. Abbotsford is the extraordinary home of Sir Walter Scott – the 'Great Scott' who popularised tartan, saved the Scottish banknote and rediscovered his country's Crown Jewels. We take a guided a tour here that will take us through the sumptuous interiors and into the beautiful gardens which form three 'outdoor rooms', before enjoying an included cream tea.

Found the Front of House Manager Vicky (if she was) very rude and confrontational. Deeply disappointed that the lift was out of order and having to climb 4/5 flights of stairs to reach my room. Being almost 83 and having walking difficulties I had to make sure I had everything each morning to avoid going up the stairs unnecessarily.

Had really nice time, met some lovely people and well looked after the Shearing's staff. Trips were both enjoyable and very informative, Would definitely recommend and will be booking again. An all round good value for money holiday.
