Monschau, the Eifel Hills and the Ahr Valley

Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore your beautiful surroundings. Why not take a scenic stroll by the lake or relax with a coffee on the hotel’s terrace?

This afternoon, join us on our optional excursion to the imperial frontier town of Aachen. Magnificent examples of medieval architecture can be found around the town, including the superb cathedral and town hall. See the Elisenbrunnen fountain, a famous symbol of Aachen’s heritage as a spa town, and if you’re interested in uncovering the town’s history, why not visit the Centre Charlemagne? With plenty of bakeries offering local delicacies, be sure to treat yourself to the spiced gingerbread known as 'Aachener Printen’ or the 'Rice Cake', a light yeast dough filled with sweet and creamy rice and oven baked for a golden yellow appearance.

Join our included excursion as we visit the Eifel National Park Centre, which offers spectacular panoramic views over the Urftsee reservoir. The impressive ‘Dreams of the Wilderness’ exhibition is a particular highlight.

We continue on to the old town of Ahrweiler, which retains its medieval gates and fortifications.

Later, we travel to Monschau – a photographer’s paradise! Half-timbered façades overlook twisting streets, cobbled walkways and quaint market squares. Don’t miss out on trying the local speciality, Monschau Mustard.
