Enjoy a countryside escape on the outskirts of Cambridge, staying at the 4-star Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa. With idyllic lakeside surroundings, a luxurious spa (extra charges may apply, please pay locally) and modern facilities, this hotel is perfect for relaxation, but also a great base from which to explore from. Discover historic Cambridge before heading to Newmarket where we visit the National Stud, an internationally renowned thoroughbred horse breeding farm. The unique experiences don’t end there as we venture north to join the Nene Valley Railway, the UK’s leading international steam attraction. Our final day gives you the chance to make the most of the hotel’s superb facilities, or join our optional excursion to Bury St Edmunds.

Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to the spectacular Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa for a four-night stay.
We spend the morning in Cambridge itself, home to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities. An atmosphere of learning dominates this picture-postcard city of towers, spires and ‘college backs’, with bridges across the River Cam being a perfect place to watch the world go by.
We continue to Newmarket to visit The National Stud, founded in 1916 when Lord Wavertree (also known as Colonel William Hall Walker) donated his stud farm and bloodstock to the British Government. The National Stud opened its gates to the public for the first time in the mid 1970’s. To this day, The National Stud remains the only chance for the public to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm.
We head north through the fenland countryside to join the nostalgic Nene Valley Railway, a preserved standard gauge railway running for 7 ½ miles between Peterborough Nene Valley and Yarwell Junction.
Relax and unwind in the hotel’s leisure club today or join our optional excursion to Bury St Edmunds. This charming Suffolk market town is dominated by the magnificent St Edmundsbury Cathedral, and also boasts the ruins of Bury St Edmunds Abbey, standing in the lovely Abbey Gardens.
Return home.
Our team (based right here in the UK) will be more than happy to talk you through things - just give us a buzz!
