Find your next holiday
Discover the delights of North Devon on this fantastic short break. Staying in the charming town of Bideford, explore the Pannier Market and Butcher’s Row with its artisan studios offering locally and on-site made gifts, pottery, wood carvings, jewellery, paintings and more. The highlight of our holiday is a trip to Clovelly, one of the best known and most unusual villages in the region. With visits to bustling Barnstaple and the Dartington Crystal Visitor Centre – where you can learn more about one of North Devon’s most famous products – a fantastic break is guaranteed!
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to Exmouth for a four-night stay.
Clovelly is one of the best known and most unusual villages in North Devon. The cobbled high street winds its way down the hillside, through traditional 16th century whitewashed cottages decked with fuchsias and geraniums, dropping 400ft down to the small harbour. Once integral to the daily lives of villagers, helping move sledges up and down the hill, the donkeys are now some of Clovelly's favourite residents and they enjoy a much more peaceful life now!
On your way back up, perhaps take a break at one of the pubs for fresh, local seafood or a cream tea, or you may prefer to take one of the local Land Rovers back to the top (extra charges payable locally, subject to availability).
Enjoy a day at leisure in Bideford, or why not join our optional excursion to Lynton and Lynmouth? These picturesque twin towns are located on the rugged Exmoor coastline, with bustling Lynmouth on the shore and clifftop Lynton offering superb views. The two are connected by the Cliff Railway, the highest and steepest fully water-powered railway in the world (extra charges payable locally).
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in sterling (cash payments only).
This morning, enjoy a visit to the bustling town of Barnstaple – famous for its pottery. The largest town in North Devon, Barnstaple has a prosperous past and was once a major port for American trade. It remains a thriving market town with a partly pedestrianised centre and many charming buildings, narrow streets and pretty alleys.
Later in the day, we call at the Dartington Crystal Visitor Centre to see the skilled craft makers at work. Learn more about Dartington's glass making story in the Visitor Centre, before admiring the glass makers at work from the viewing areas and overhead walkways.
