Today we visit the picturesque market town of Keswick. Overlooked by the dramatic Skiddaw range in the north and the expansive Derwentwater in the south, the town enjoys an idyllic location in the north of the Lake District.
We then visit pretty Grasmere before returning to the hotel.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy breakfast this morning before opening some presents or taking a stroll in the hotel surroundings. We have a glass of kir royal and then a traditional Christmas Day lunch. There will be the chance to watch the King's Speech.
We depart the hotel this morning, filled with magical Christmas memories, and return home.

The Shap Wells Hotel is situated in a secluded, wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells and surrounded by mountain streams, the ideal place from which to explore the Lakes. The hotel has retained many of its original features over the years and much time has been taken to retain the character of the building. The restaurant serves an extensive menu, in keeping with the hotel surroundings and seasons, and the Riverside Lounge & Bar provides the perfect spot to relax with a pre- or post-dinner drink!
