ABOUT THE TOUR
Christmas is a truly special time of year, whether you want to spend it with family, relax in your own company, or meet new people and new friends. Join us for a mulled wine and mince pie on arrival, Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, festive cream tea each day, and a small gift from Santa! Celebrate this magical time of year in Whitby, with its pretty harbour, Abbey ruins and quaint riverside buildings.
TOUR INCLUDES
Day 1:
Local departure by coach, then on to Whitby and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a mulled wine with a mince pie on arrival to get us into the Christmas spirit.

Day 2: Christmas Eve in North York Moors
Take in some truly stunning scenery this Christmas Eve! We enjoy a scenic trip taking in the delights of the North York Moors. We visit beautiful Helmsley, known for its beautiful surrounding landscape, traditional market square and dramatic castle ruins. We continue to the traditional market town of Pickering. Overlooked by a splendid 13th century castle and known for its wonderful heritage railway, you will have time at leisure to explore the charming streets and alleyways of this popular town. We also visit the picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale.

Day 3: Christmas Day at leisure or York
Merry Christmas! Relax in Whitby, open some presents, tuck into a traditional turkey dinner, or join our optional excursion to York. York has a rich history and many museums celebrating it, such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum telling of 300 years of railway history, and the Chocolate Story which tells of the many famous sweet brands associated with the city. York Minster’s impressive Gothic architecture dominates the city as one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe, and The Shambles are always worth a visit, with its over-hanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts. Browse York’s many shops, from high street favourites to quirky and independent boutiques, along with excellent cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Day 4: Boxing Day in Scarborough
This morning we take a trip along the coast to nearby Scarborough. As Britain’s oldest and original seaside resort, Scarborough knows a thing or two about pleasing holidaymakers. Enjoy the sandy beaches, visit the Sea Life sanctuary, or explore the 12th century castle. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.

Day 5:
We depart the hotel this morning, filled with magical Christmas memories, and return home.

Dotted along the Moors are quaint market towns and pretty villages and we visit some of the most picturesque, such as Hutton Le Hole, home to the Ryedale Folk Museum and famous for its free-roaming moorland sheep, and Goathland, better known as the fictional village of Aidensfield from Heartbeat.

You will stay for four nights at the Royal Hotel, located in Whitby.
High on the West Cliff, the former Bay Hotel, Royal, occupies a commanding position with wonderful views over the beaches, harbour and lovely old town, and towards the dramatic abbey ruins. In the hotel you can enjoy tasty breakfast, midday and evening meals before enjoy an after-meal drink in the scenic bar and lounge.
