Local departure by coach, then on to Scarborough and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a mulled wine with a mince pie on arrival to get us into the Christmas spirit.
Today we visit beautiful and historic York. Uncover some of the city’s Viking past at the Jorvik Viking Centre, discover 300 years of railway history at the National Railway Museum, or learn more about York’s sweet history at the Chocolate Story. Don’t miss the unforgettable York Minster, one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe and a superb example of beautiful, Gothic architecture. Browse York’s many shops, from high street favourites to quirky and independent boutiques, along with excellent cafés, pubs and restaurants, and not forgetting the unusual Shambles, with its over-hanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts.
Merry Christmas! Relax in Scarborough, open some presents, tuck into a traditional turkey dinner, and enjoy the festive atmosphere in the hotel with your fellow travellers.
This morning we take a trip along the coast to nearby Whitby. Whitby has connections with Bram Stoker’s Dracula and combined with the Abbey ruins, has long embraced the Gothic. In contrast, its colourful harbour and pier are every bit the classical seaside town with traditional holiday attractions. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.
We depart the hotel this morning, filled with magical Christmas memories, and return home.

We stayed at the New Southlands hotel for Christmas. Our luggage was taken to our room by the hotel staff, we got our room key and information on the coach, which made checking in easy. Staff were brilliant, the manger changed our room, it was no problem. , Everything was well organized, tea and mince pie on arrival. We chose our meal times , so when we arrived in the restaurant, our food was ready, and we were served quickly and the food and plates were hot. Food excellent. Daniel, Jason and Philip put up with a lot of cheek from me, when they could understand me! they were brilliant and made the stay fun. Thank you to all staff for making our break fun, we will stay with you again Denise and Jan

The food was good up to Dinner on Christmas Day, but on Boxing Day onwards it could have been better for our chosen menu, not very appetising. Our room was decorated nicely. The Windows were the problem, being Sash Windows & windy weather they shook/rattled we put tissues in to wedge them.! ALL THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL, FRIENDLY & OBLIGING. The journey outward & inward would be better, if we could have only one change at Chieviely & not another change over at Rugby, coming home was bad, as none of the COACH BOARDS in the Services were working telling us when we should board the coach, lots of people, gale force winds & rain was not the best ending to our holiday.

This was very good value! a lovely hotel with superb food.and good entertainment. The rooms were basic but adequate and clean. The lift was a little overworked for such an elderly group.suggest a larger one or another..The coach transfers were ok but a lot of waiting midwinter not much fun.our taxi on the last leg did not materialise so an hour wait was not appreciated late wet evening. The day trips were good,

The coach journey was far to long 11 hours was a joke, so many of the passengers was moaning , drivers was brilliant, but has you as the company needs to shorten hours out, we will never go on a coach trip again I'm sorry
