We arrive in Assisi and have time to settle into our hotel, where we stay for five nights.
After a leisurely start, we drive to Lake Trasimeno to soak up the festive vibe in the medieval village of Castiglione del Lago. Here, an annual Christmas event is held, with festive lights on the water and an array of light trails, nativity scenes and market stalls.
Enjoy the magical festive atmosphere during our optional excursion to Perugia. Perugia is a lovely medieval city rich in history and art. Take time to explore Perugia’s unique underground Christmas market, Natale alla Rocca, held in the historic Rocca Paolina fortress, with crafts and food set among ancient tunnels, alongside traditional stalls in main squares like Corso Vannucci, creating a truly enchanting festive experience.
We will visit a famous Perugia chocolate factory for a tour and tasting before enjoying free time in the city.

Merry Christmas! Relax and enjoy a day at leisure in historic Assisi. Explore this magical spiritual town, with festive lights and numerous nativity scenes (presepi) that capture the true atmosphere of Christmas. We also enjoy a tasty Umbrian‑style Christmas lunch.
Another leisurely start today we leave Assisi and head to Spoleto. Spoleto stands on a hill on the eastern edge of the Umbrian Valley, and its origins date back to the Umbrians. During the Roman era, the city was enriched with important structures such as the amphitheatre and thermal baths. There are numerous places of artistic interest that are well worth a visit.
After free time in Spoleto, we will travel to Greccio, a medieval village nestled in the hills whose beauty even captivated St Francis. We visit the famous living Nativity Scene, the historical re‑enactment of the Birth of Jesus, which took place for the first time in 1223 and is considered the first Nativity Scene in history.
Dinner this evening is in a local restaurant in Greccio before returning to the hotel.
We leave Assisi and begin our overnight journey towards Calais.
Return home.
