Today, we visit charming York. Still surrounded by its original Roman walls, the city has over 2,000 years of history to uncover. Enjoy a spot of shopping in the iconic Shambles, take in the famous sights, and treat yourself to a mulled wine or hot chocolate at the magical Christmas market – there’s no better way to soak up the city’s enchanting atmosphere!
Today you have free time to explore beautiful Harrogate. Visit the Royal Pump Room Museum to learn about the spa towns past. For gin lovers, a trip to The Spirit of Harrogate, the home to Slingsby Gin, is a must. Browse the range of independent shops and, of course, enjoy afternoon tea in one of the famous tea rooms.
Today, we enjoy an included excursion to stately Castle Howard. Set in a thousand acres of sweeping parkland, this is one of England's finest historic houses. Particularly beautiful during the festive season, a giant Christmas tree awaits you in the main hall and, with seasonally decorated rooms, this is a favourite time of year for a tour of the house. This year's theme is "The Wizard of Oz" and the main rooms will be dressed with scenes of Oz as your invited to follow the yellow brick road through the state rooms.
