Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, before travelling to Chatham and the Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa for a four-night stay.
Today, we head to the Historic Dockyard Chatham, where many of the outdoor scenes of the Call the Midwife were filmed, despite the series being set in London’s East End.
The Call the Midwife Official Location Tour is the only one of its kind – a brilliant tour led by a costumed guide, who’ll show you exactly where the drama unfolds. Plus, your ticket includes admission to the dockyard itself, home to an amazing collection of attractions – making this truly an experience to remember!
Test your sea legs on HM Submarine Ocelot, a Cold War Submarine; explore HMS Cavalier, a Second World War Destroyer and walk the deck of HMS Gannet, a Victorian Sloop. This truly is a day out to remember!
Following breakfast, we head to the North Kent coast and our first stop, the charming seaside town of Whitstable, famous for its fresh seafood, annual oyster festival, artistic community and historic maritime heritage. Whitstable has become one of the most popular destinations in the southeast and features a bustling harbour and quirky high street to enjoy.
We then continue a short distance along the coast to Herne Bay, another charming British seaside resort known for its delightful pebble beaches, colourful beach huts and traditional atmosphere.
Today, we make the short trip to the ancient city of Rochester, home to a stunning cathedral and Norman castle. With a history dating back centuries, Rochester was a place cherished by the Victorian novelist, Charles Dickens, who lived in the area as a child and returned as a successful author. The high street is packed with quaint, independent shops and a great range of cafés and restaurants.
Whilst here, we include a one-hour circular cruise along the River Medway, passing by the sights of Rochester Bridge, the Russian Submarine, Chatham Dockyard and Upnor Castle. Keep your eyes open for the local wildlife, maybe a frolicking seal or the colourful flash of a kingfisher
