We did a self drive break with Shearings. And you get what you pay for. Altho in previous times this was obviously a beautiful house, it has been left to ruin. How some of the windows stay in is a miracle! The parts you are not supposed to see have rubbish spilling from open bags attracting flies, and the smell is horrendous. Our first room (having requested a disabled room with bath) had a shower and the electrics were a joke, you could have the kettle or tv on, not both. Nothing had PAT testing stickers on. When we were moved the next day, the room was very much better, but still no PAT tests. A severe lack of staff and those there not trained as servers, made mealtimes a joke. The cutlery and crockery were filthy with lipstick and finger marks on several glasses and morning mugs. Had to pinch cutlery from other tables . Food ran out and we had to wait for it to be replenished. There was no one to serve wine or drinks at table, bar one night. All in all, they were doing their best, but that best leaves a lot to be desired.

Spoilt by noisy family thumping about in room above us, from 6.30 am. Only 2 nights entertainment. Food better than expected.

Booked on line after ringing for some more info. Call centre helpful and pleasant. Website booking form a bit awkward at accepting telephone numbers.

I really enjoyed myself, I was a bit nervous before hand first time I have been away without a family member, but I do make friends easily so settled in really good. My room had a sea view it was perfect, beautiful. The bed was so comfortable, I probably had one the best sleeps the first night, but the rest of the week was fine too. i only had one problem when I went to eat in the restaurant I had ordered soup with a bread roll, well it was rock hard, well I put that down as an error of judgement on their part.

My husband and I have had several holidays with Shearings and find them a first rate company, they are always wonderfully polite and helpful and do everything within their power to give you a fantastic holiday! We love travelling with them and have already booked a few more holidays in the near future!
