Today is free for you to enjoy at leisure. You can choose to relax in the hotel, or explore historic Plymouth. Visit the Barbican and historic harbour with its narrow cobbled streets and old buildings, and maybe stop for a bite to eat at one of the waterfront restaurants. You could even explore the harbour from the water with a harbour cruise.

We explore some of Cornwall's picture-postcard coastal towns today. The first stop is Looe, a charming, traditional fishing town with quaint cafés and traditional pubs, where you can enjoy cream teas, Cornish pasties and local ales.

Our next stop is Polperro, famed for its dramatic cliffs, smuggling history and timeless charm. It’s one of Cornwall’s most enchanting destinations! Here, the whitewashed cottages cling to steep hillsides around the small working harbour, creating a scene that feels frozen in time. Polperro’s past is brought to life at the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing, which offers fascinating insights into its clandestine maritime history.

You will stay for seven nights at the 3-star Duke of Cornwall in Plymouth.

Duke of Cornwall

Location: Millbay Road, , Plymouth, PL1 3LG

The 3-star Duke of Cornwall Hotel is a grand 19th-century building in the heart of Plymouth, close to the historic waterfront. The hotel is traditional in style and its decor is elegant. Bedrooms are reached either by a sweeping staircase or vintage elevator (please note due to listed nature of building, there is no modern lift). Rooms feature a TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and many retain traditional features. The hotel offers a restaurant and two stylish bars, plus cosy lounge areas with chesterfield sofas and a fireplace. Dating back to 1863, the hotel stands as an iconic piece of Plymouth’s history and has some fascinating stories to tell. Created as the city’s first luxury hotel, the building was designed to project Victorian grandeur and splendour. With so much of what surrounded it destroyed in the war, the hotel's survival leaves its architectural merit even more apparent. Stepping into the grand entrance, you also step back in time. Considerate restorations mean the hotel's original grace and character can continue to be enjoyed today.
