We make our way southwards, to reach the Black Forest area, where we stay for four nights.
Included excursion to the heart of the Black Forest. Take in the wonderful scenery of the dense pine forests and pass quaint villages.
We visit Triberg, famous for Germany’s highest waterfall and home of the Black Forest Museum. Renowned for its cuckoo clock tradition, Triberg’s carvers, clockmakers and clock shops help to shape the distinctive character of this charming town.
Take in the scenery of the Black Forest, an ancient mountain range, famous for its fir trees that cover the landscape.
We head first to colourful Freiburg, the region’s ‘capital’. Known for its historic old town and fine architecture, popular landmarks in the town include the ornate Freiburg Minster, with its 116-metre tall tower, and the old and new town halls. Freiburg is also known for the miniature canals which run through its streets.
Later, we enjoy time in the picturesque resort of Titisee, famed for the lake of the same name and its crystal clear waters. Admire the beautiful scenery or sample the local delicacies such as Black Forest gateau.
Today, you can join our optional excursion as we head into France and to the charming city of Strasbourg, in the Alsace region. Be sure to view the impressive Gothic Cathedral and the numerous bridges crossing the Ill River, which formed part of the seventeenth century fortifications for the city.
