Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to our overnight hotel in northern France or Belgium.
We make our way southwards, through Germany to the Hotel Jagerhaus in Langenau.
We enjoy a scenic drive to the beautiful city of Nuremberg. Bavaria’s second-largest city, Nuremberg boasts a long and eventful history.
You may wish to visit the Kaiserburg. The enormous castle complex above the old town district poignantly reflects Nuremberg’s medieval might. Explore the old town with its lively market square, old city walls and moat.
Today we visit the village of Hohenschwangau and King Ludwig II’s famous Neuschwanstein Castle (entrance included).
Built in the 19th century, the fairy tale castle is dramatically perched on a hilltop. King Ludwig encouraged plans for this German gothic castle but unfortunately died before the end of its construction.
The panoramic views from each side of the castle are truly breathtaking. This really is King Ludwig’s most outlandish creation, brimming with turrets and pinnacles.
Included excursion to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the highlight of the famous Romantic Road.
Rothenburg is one of the real gems in Germany’s crown and never fails to leave a lasting impression. Explore this charming town with its medieval historic district, which has been left largely untouched for hundreds of years.
Enjoy a stroll past the medieval walls and ancient buildings.
We leave Germany today and make our way to Belgium or northern France for our final overnight stay.
Return home.

This tour was very well organised. Our drivers, Steve and Wayne were excellent, giving us lots of information about the places we visited. We learnt a lot about King Ludwig II from the local guides at the castles we visited.

A varied and interesting itinerary, visiting three major tourist areas in Germany. The German hotels were atmospheric. My highlight was visiting Herrenchiemsee, one of the three of King Ludwig’s castles/palaces. October was the perfect time for this holiday, the trees were a wonderful autumnal colour and we were lucky to have sunshine every day (after early morning mist). This was a most enjoyable holiday. The organisation of the whole trip was excellent.

I don't know why I'm being asked to review a holiday that I already have (!). The hotel was comfortable, the excursions very enjoyable and the two drivers were the best ever - friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The return at Folkestone was the by now predictable shambles altho this time the staff there really did their best. I should be very reluctant to travel with Shearings/Lever again because there is something obviously wrong there. Incidentally, I have contacted customer services three times and been promised a reply within two working days which never came. Almost everyone on my previous Shearings holiday paid £20 for an excursion that they didn't get and informed Shearings of this with no response.

Comfortable hotel, memorable and enjoyable excursions. The drivers/tour guides were above and beyond, very knowledgeable and helpful. The return home was what appeared to be the usual fiasco at Folkestone which this time the staff did their best to cope with. I would avoid Shearings/Leger in future because they don't respond or deal appropriately with the many complaints that they receive 🤔
