The Tall Ships Races will come to Antwerp once again in 2026! The city and Port of Antwerp-Bruges have a long history with the world-famous sailing race, hosting it for the 8th time. Between the races, the city will receive several Tall Ships as a ‘friendly host port’. Antwerp is Europe’s 2nd largest port and is famous for being the diamond capital of the world and one of the fashion cities of Europe. You will have time at leisure to explore the charming narrow streets, spacious squares and elegant boutiques which ensure Antwerp remain typically Flemish in character.

The Tall Ships Races are an internationally acclaimed, annual competition organised by Sail Training International and held every summer in European waters. Each year around 80 vessels from 15-20 countries, crewed by some 6,000 young people from over 30 countries worldwide, take part in this unique event that combines four days of activities in each port, with racing or cruising-in-company between ports. The main aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for young people, and so at least 50% of a Tall Ship's crew must be aged 15-25.
Enjoy the local events around the town, with likely highlights to look out for including the crew parade, which sees hundreds of crew members take to the streets in celebration, fireworks on the closing evening and, of course, the parade of sail, which will see the Tall Ships wave goodbye to the city of Antwerp in quite a spectacular fashion.
